Cake Pups

Cake Pups@The Seven Year Cottage

So technically, they’re not cake pops.

But I used Oreo Cakesters…

And that’s cake.

Cake Pups

  • Oreo Cakesters
  • Peanut butter candy melts
  • Dark chocolate candy melts
  • White candy melts
  • Edible eyes (Michael’s)
  • Black food marker (Michael’s)
  • Black jelly beans
  • Sandwich-sized zipper bag
  • Lollipop sticks
  • Styrofoam rectangle
  • Narrow ribbon

Slide lollipop sticks into the filling layer between the two cakesters.  Lay flat on a baking sheet lined with wax paper.  Place tray in the freezer for approximately fifteen minutes.

In the meantime, melt peanut butter candy in a microwave safe bowl for 45-60 seconds, stirring frequently.

Remove cakester pops from the freezer and dip in melted candy until evenly coated.  Using foam base, stand pops upright and allow to dry completely.

For puppy dog ears, carefully cut white and dark chocolate candy melts in half.  Attach to faces with remaining liquid candy coating.

Fasten the first edible eye with a tiny dab of melted peanut butter candy.

Melt 1/4 cup of the dark chocolate candy pieces and transfer to a resealable sandwich bag.  Snip one corner of the bag and pipe a large drop next to the first eye.  Position second edible eye in the center of chocolate drop and press into place (the excess will leak and appear as a facial spot).

Create noses by cutting black jelly beans in half lengthwise and securing to faces with melted chocolate.

Draw mouths with edible food marker.

Finally, dress up these delightfully peppy puppy treats by tying a little ribbon around each stick before serving!

  39. Wow Hollie! They look so professional! And I love the fact that you used the Cakesters! I’m not a huge fan of how excessively sweet regular cake pops can be, so the nice balance of the cakesters and the peanut butter candy melts sounds like a much, much tastier way to go. And they simply couldn’t be any cuter!

Thank you so much for being a part of making “A Little Birdie Told Me…” this week, the very best week yet!
