How positively playful are these edible octopi…
With their bubble gum bodies and sweet ‘n sour appendages floating among colorful starfish?
As fun to make as they are to eat, ready-made items from the supermarket, and a little imagination, will have you assembling these silly sea creatures in no time!
You’ll need the following:
- Two-bite brownies
- Mini cupcake papers
- Vanilla frosting
- Blue food coloring
- Gallon-size resealable bag
- Gumballs (bulk candy bin)
- Neon sour gummy worms
- Edible eyes (Michael’s)
- 1/2c. white chocolate chips
- Star cake confetti
Insert two-bite brownies into paper liners and set aside… feel free to substitute miniature cupcakes.
In a small mixing bowl, add a few drops of blue food coloring to the vanilla frosting and stir until well-blended. Spoon a small amount of frosting onto brownies and spread to the edges in a thin layer.
For octopus arms, carefully cut gummy worms in half to separate the two colors. Arrange eight gummy worm halves of the same color on top of each iced brownie, allowing them to dangle over the sides.
To create faces, microwave white chocolate chips for 30-45 seconds until melted. Dab chocolate onto the backs of candy eyeballs and quickly attach them to the gumballs (bubble gum will start to lose its color when held, gripping it with a napkin or paper towel will prevent this from happening).
Place decorated gumballs in the center of arms, using extra icing to secure if necessary. Star-shaped cake confetti hides the seams where the body and arms meet… tweezers work great for precise placement.
Once complete, serve and enjoy!
