Your kitchen will bee buzzing with excitement…
As ordinary snack cakes take flight with some ingenuity and a pair of candy wings!
Bumble Bee Bites
- Devil’s Food cookie cakes
- 1/2 c. mini chocolate chips
- Chocolate jimmies-sprinkles
- M&M Mini’s
- Black cake confetti
- Licorice pastels
- Gumdrops
- 2 tbsp. sugar
- Wax paper
To create bumble bee stripes, place 2-3 yellow gumdrops, along with sugar, between two sheets of wax paper. Roll gumdrops flat. If you find this step difficult, microwave gumdrops for 3-5 seconds, then try again. Cut 1/2″ wide strips from flattened gumdrops. You’ll need one yellow stripe for every bee.
Remove cookie cakes from package. Melt chocolate chips. Lay one yellow gumdrop strip across the top of each cake. Dab melted chocolate on both sides of snack cake to secure stripe. Hold in place until chocolate sets up. Remove excess gummy candy with kitchen shears.
For eyes, use a tiny amount of melted chocolate to attach one cake confetti pupil to each round orange candy. If you cannot find black cake confetti, substitute mini chocolate chips. Use melted chocolate to adhere completed eyeballs to bumble bee faces.
Attach antennae by dipping the ends of jimmies into melted chocolate, then standing them upright on top of eyes. Tweezers are a great tool for precise placement.
Wings are made by carefully removing thin slices from the bottom of white gumdrops with a paring knife. Cut thin white candy disks in half. Arrange two wing pieces just above candy eyeballs.
Bee’s stinger is a single black licorice pastel inserted into snack cake at an angle.
Serve and enjoy!

They are adorable! I don’t think I have seen Devil’s Food cake cookies here in Australia but I am sure I could find an alternative. Yum!
Thank you! They are sold under the SnackWell’s name, but some grocery stores carry their own less expensive line. Mallomars would be a good alternative. Both are Nabisco products.
Those are adorable! So creative.
Super Cute!! This would be a great idea for a baby shower. Must pin!! Stopped by from Tuesday Confessional. AJ@queenofmynest
