With the addition of chocolate feathers and shimmering features…
Store-bought cookies masquerade as symbols of great wisdom!
Owl Cookies
- 3″ sugar cookies
- 16oz. can chocolate frosting
- Chocolate jimmies/sprinkles
- Chocolate Twizzlers
- Peach Rings
- Reese’s Pieces or M&M’s
- Pastel cake confetti
- Orange candied sunflower seeds
Using a butter knife or small metal spatula, spread a thin layer of chocolate frosting over the surface of each cookie. Sprinkle chocolate jimmies onto the lower half of iced cookies for a feathery effect.
To create owl eyes, lay two peach rings side-by-side. Drop brown candies into the center of rings for pupils. Dip the tip of a toothpick into frosting and dab a tiny amount on the backs of white cake confetti. Adhere to pupils.
For ears, carefully split Twizzlers lengthwise with a sharp knife, then cut into pieces approximately 1 1/4″ in length. Miter the ends, so a “V” shape is formed in the center of forehead when two pieces are fitted together.
Noses are a single yellow candy, and a couple of orange sunflower seeds were used as talons.
Gently apply pressure to all candy features to ensure they bond well to the wet frosting.
Serve and enjoy!
*I purchased sugar cookies for this project from a local grocer, but feel free to scratch-make your own!
